Opelika Trading Company opened in Nov 2014 in Opelika, Alabama. The shop sells handmade american goods. The shop is owned and operated by leather maker Michael Stricklin of Loyal Stricklin and artist RC Hagans.
The pegasus pays homage to an old shut down mill in the town of Opelika. The mill's logo was a griffin, and the folks at Opelika Trading Company wanted an updated winged mythical creature as a tribute to the town's history. The typography is hand drawn and inspired by old matchbooks.
